What We're About

Screen Free Philly is a grassroots effort to help our region reclaim time, attention, and togetherness. We organize community events that invite people of all ages to put their phones down and experience something better—real conversation, play, creativity, and connection with the people and places around them.

We're not anti-technology, but we are anti-tech companies profiting off our time and attention. We'd all benefit from touching grass more and connecting with each other in person. Screen Free Philly is about making more space for that.

We're planning something big: a full weekend of screen-free events, activities, and gatherings across the Philadelphia region. Think board game nights, outdoor adventures, live music, yoga, art workshops, crafting, scrapbooking, pickup sports, community conversations, and more—all designed to bring people together across generations and neighborhoods.

Screen Free Weekend is what happens when a whole city decides to put the phone down at the same time.

Not one big event—dozens of them, all across Philadelphia. A board game night at your favorite bar. A group hike through the Wissahickon. A pickup soccer game. An art class. An outdoor yoga session. Whatever sounds fun to you.

We want businesses, nonprofits, clubs, schools, and anyone with a good idea to make it their own. Screen Free Philly is the hub—we'll help people find everything happening that weekend. You bring the idea, we'll help spread the word.
